This recession has affected those from all walks of life. From students whose future is suddenly bleak, to those working poor who find that Government relief efforts are aimed towards the corporations rather than the unfortunate. Suicide numbers are at the highest they have ever been in our nation, in part due to this sudden economic collapse. Without the lifestyle or future people had been told to expect, they found themselves searching for a greater meaning to life, a meaning that the mass culture could not provide.

We have been taught to expect a life of luxury, raised on promises of success and independence. The reality is that while we were being taught to expect these things, we were being blindfolded to the truth, shepherded away from the actual means to attain that success. For generations, our minds have been clogged with false information, and it is time to free ourselves from the crushing weight of false ideals.

The Society of Rebirth and Ascension uses the traditional concepts of self-denial to measure the readiness of candidates to experience the mysteries of the Sacred Sage. A legal herb, lovingly crafted by Master Kurobi, its incense opens the pathways of mind. Those who experience guided meditation soon after the administration of this first sacrament, have taken a great swing at the chains of their past life, and are ready to be reborn as Journeymen.

Of course, the Sacred Sage is not necessary: Master Kurobi and the First Arbiters of the SRAA all achieved their meditation and journey without it, however, it is a powerful tool, and drastically increases the speed at which a new initiate can exorcise their inner demons, and receive true sight.
